![]() ![]() Despite the simplicity of its premise, Lights Out is excellent at building suspense and creating relentless sequences of tension as we watch these characters do whatever they can to outwit the supernatural being stalking them. Enjoyable horror movie with thrills, chills and strange events, while the roles scream and panic her way through most of their scenes and including limited. It plays on the very simple premise of being scared of the dark-the “monster” in question only moves when the lights are out. Sometimes I am doubtful of PG-13 horror having the power to provide genuine scares, but Lights Out proves it is indeed possible. Unsurprisingly, a sequel is in development, though it’s unclear if it is still happening since there have been no updates on its status in more than five years. Lights Out made a significant profit, grossing over $148 million against a $4.9 million budget. What initially appeared to be a run-of-the-mill horror film was a surprising success thanks to excellent performances, great direction, and compelling cinematography.
